Artstation is an international art practice undertaking collaboration with a wide range of individuals, universities and public organisations. The company was formed in 1990 and is headed up by partners Glenn Davidson and Anne Hayes. Through architectural design, art and media placements, exhibitions and academic practice, their work responds to issues of sustainability and social justice and the disconnections between people and their environment. As a residency artist, Glenn Davidson thrives on interaction and conversations through mutual collaboration; experience he uses to drive along innovative and engaging community-facing projects. Glenn employs various media including the World Wide Web, SMS and text messaging, video, graphics, and interactive works for exhibition and public spaces, for screen, projection and print.

Glenn studied Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art before taking up an artists’ fellowship in Cybernetics and Social Systems at the University of Amsterdam, the experience of which has had a defining influence on the direction of his conceptual and creative practice.

A cross section of mixed and new media works are illustrated below and further information about these works and others can be found of the Artstation website, www.artstation.org.uk

Cwmni celf rhyngwladol yw Artstation, sy'n cydweithio ag ystod eang o unigolion, prifysgolion a sefydliadau cyhoeddus. Sefydlwyd y cwmni yn 1990 ac fe'i harweinir gan Glenn Davidson ac Anne Hayes. Drwy leoliadau, arddangosfeydd ac arfer academaidd ym maes dylunio pensaernïol, celf a'r cyfryngau, mae gwaith y cwmni'n ymateb i faterion yn ymwneud â chynaliadwyedd a chyfiawnder cymdeithasol a'r datgysylltu rhwng pobl a'u hamgylchedd. Fel artist preswyl, mae rhyngweithio a sgwrsio drwy gydweithio yn fêl ar fysedd Glenn Davidson, ac mae'n defnyddio ei brofiad i lywio prosiectau arloesol a diddorol ar gyfer y gymuned. Mae Glenn yn defnyddio amrywiaeth o gyfryngau gan gynnwys y We Fyd-Eang, SMS a negeseuon testun, fideo, graffeg a gwaith rhyngweithiol ar gyfer arddangosfeydd a mannau cyhoeddus, ar gyfer y sgrin, tafluniad a phrint.

Astudiodd Glenn Gelfyddyd Gain yn Ysgol Gelf Caerdydd cyn derbyn cymrodoriaeth i artistiaid mewn Seiberneteg a Systemau Cymdeithasol ym Mhrifysgol Amsterdam, sef profiad sydd wedi cael dylanwad diffiniol ar ei arfer cysyniadol a chreadigol.

Dangosir croestoriad o waith cyfryngau cymysg a chyfryngau newydd isod, ac mae rhagor o wybodaeth am y gwaith hwn, a darnau eraill o waith, i'w gweld ar wefan Artstation, www.artstation.org.uk

A Speculative and Colourful Journey

Glenn is lead artist for Arts+Minds and artist-in-residence in St. George's Court, Tredegar. Working from a flat which Tai Calon has kindly provided gratis, initially until December 2016, Glenn initially collaborated with Frank O’Connor, an artist, writer and poet, and Artstation Associate to develop an 'immersive' programme of community engagement and imaginative leap-taking with residents on the estate. Glenn continues his pioneering work in the area with the support of local artist, Chris Walters and with the creative expertise of artists, Heather Parnell & David Mackie and the photographer and archivist, Marc Arkless. (Further details on Yellow Brick Road page).
